A GUEST AUTHOR’s HARVEST STORY

WATERVIEW CASINO IN VICKSBURG

By Everett Sorrell

Reggie, first let me say I made the harvest, at least the ones that were available, there were no GO chips. The place overall was a disappointment. I left home at 5 PM Friday got there at 7:30. walked in. Everything I saw looked familiar to Diamond Jacks. They had a line set up just inside to help out with the slot cards, since it was fairly short got in it, I noticed they had the red and blue level playing card, there are 4 levels, found out my drivers license was expired and had been for 2 months, but the person behind the counter accepted my retired military ID card, as I was getting my card, mentioned I was a collector and if possible could I also get a blank one of each of the 2 she had, that was one of the good things about my visit. Then I made my way to the cashier cage to check on the chips told cashier what I was looking for, at that point one of the casino hosts assisted me by taking me to a blackjack table, not enough $1 there, but he stayed with me and then took me to roulette table to buy the $1 chips, now that was a pleasant experience. As I said when I walked in I thought I was in Diamond Jacks. with the exception of name change, chips and player cards and a few employees everything else is the same all the same slot machines. Oh by the way went next door to the Ameristar, picked a couple of 2.50’s, hoping I could get the variety with Vicksburg, MS on the bottom edge, but they both were the ones with Vickburg, MS up off the lower edge and to the left of the $ sign. Also I forgot to tell you I won enough at Waterview to pay for the chips. came home with $3.45 in my pocket more than I left home with, if you think any of this if worthy of a harvest story, please feel free to edit and use.

PERSONAL HARVESTING STORIES

KANSAS INDIAN CASINOS

By:RICHARD “REGGIE” GUMMER

WE VISITED ALL OF THE KANSAS INDIAN CASINOS ON THE WAY OUT FROM LAS VEGAS TO OUR FUTURE HOME IN TENNESSEE WHILE LIVING IN OUR RV. BOTH OF US NEVER SAW SO MUCH WHEAT AND CORN BEING FARMED. WE WERE IN KANSAS ONLY TWO DAYS.
PRAIRIE BAND CASINO-MAYETTA, KS THIS WILL BE VERY SHORT, WHEN I WALKED INTO THE POKER ROOM IT WAS STILL A-BUZZ WITH EXITEMENT. ONLY ONE TABLE BUT THEY HAD JUST HIT A BAD BEAT JACKPOT FOR $20,OOO+, LESS THAN A HALF HOUR BEFORE. I GOT MY CHIPS THAT I NEEDED AND WE CONTINUED ON.
http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=KSMAPB
SAC & FOX-POWHATTON,KS WE WERE GOING TO STAY OVERNIGHT THERE BUT, THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY HOOK-UPS SO WE BOTH WENT IN FOR MINUTE OR TWO BREAK AND GRABBED SOME CHIPS, AND LEFT QUICKLY.
http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=KSHISF
GOLDEN EAGLE CASINO-HORTON, KS WE DID PARK FOR THE NIGHT HERE, HOOKED-UP TO THEIR VERY NICE UTILITIES AND WENT INSIDE. WE SIGNED UP FOR THEIR PLAYERS CLUB, AND NANCY JUST KEPT GETTING NICE TRINKETS AND FREEBIES, NO POKER SO I PLAYED BLACKJACK TO GET THE NECESSARY CHIPS. I BROKE EVEN ON THE TABLES AND FOUND SOME COMMEMORTIVES. I GOT THE NECESSARY CHIPS FOR MY COLLECTION AND INVENTORY, WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH THIS CASINO. THEY REALLY TRIED TO DESERVE OUR BUSINESS.
http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=KSHOGE
CASINO WHITE CLOUD-WHITE CLOUD, KS THIS I GUESS IS A BORDER TOWN, DID NOT ACTUALLY SEE ANY TOWN. WE GOT THERE EARLY (10AM) NO TABLE WAS OPEN, BUT THE CAGE SOLD ME SOME CHIPS, ALTHOUGH I DID HAVE TROUBLE GETTING THE 50c UNICORN CHIPS I HAD TO TALK LIKE A PHILADELPHIA LAWYER TO GET THEM BUT I DID GET 6.

I DID GET EVERYTHING I NEEDED AND WE ENJOYED VISITING THESE CASINOS(Boot Hill was not open at this time)…REG

A PAIR TO DRAW TO

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie

If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

I USE SIMPLE ABBREVIATIONS FOR SOME OF MY TITLES OF MY PAGES OF THE DAY. (POD). I WILL GIVE YOU THE BREAKDOWN OF SOME THESE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO UNDERSTAND. HERE YA GO:

ALL OF THE STATES ARE TWO LETTERS, UNLESS THEY HAVE SHORT NAMES ie: IOWA, OHIO AND I CAN FIT THEM IN THE SPACE PROVIDED. THESE INCLUDING NV ARE ALL ONE DOLLAR CHIPS.

SOME TIMES I HAVE TO ABBREVIATE THE FOLLOWING:

FV5=FACE VALUE $5’s
SETS=BETTER SETS OF AT LEAST 2 CHIP SETS
GO’s=GRAND OPENING & INAUGURAL CHIPS
WET=DAY CRUISE & CRUISE SHIP ONES
CAR=CARIBBEAN ONES
MISC=MISCELLANOUS ITEMS, SOME NON CHIPS
ODD=ODD DENOMINATIONS OTHER THAN STANDARD
CASINO DENOMINATIONS
COTY’s=CHIP OF THE YEAR CHIPS
25c & 50c=BOTH ARE FRACTIONALS AND ARE LISTED
SEPARATELY WITH THEIR OWN CATEGORY.
SNAPPERS=AND OR $2.50’s, THE $2.50 CHIP

EACH OF THESE; ARE AS THEY ARE READ: $2, $3, $4 & $5.

HOPE THIS HELPS, REGGIE

SET OF THE DAY

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie

MY WEB SITE

HOME OF 4500 TRADERS

Starting 2016, I have listed everything I have (all of my excel inventory +) on the collection library trader/for sale. Of course, many of you did not know that my previous listings were items I had more than one of. Now, everything; even the ones I only have 1 (one) of will be listed. Please know; none of these are from my personal collection. One more important point while searching for chips on my CL site; there are two settings for viewing my chips. One is a simply a long, long list of pictures and descriptions. Two is by Country/City/State/Casino alphabetical. You may request to change this at any time. And when you do I will leave it on that setting for a couple of days, or whatever you request within reason, before I change to help another chipper’s request.
Follow This Collection Library Link To Approximately +/- 4500 Trader Chips >>>: http://www.collectionlibrary.com/Index.asp?EvApp=mls.5117&sPageName=MyTraders
This will cause more work for me, and along with that will be the possibility of more errors, and chances for items to slip through the cracks. So, I apologize in advance for the times I do not clear off a listing after it has been sold. Also, on the other side of coin, there will be times I will find a very nice item that I had forgot to put on the “Collection Library” when I first got it. And now I am listing it just when you started looking for it.
*On the subject of trading, please know: When you spot something on my CL Trader/For Sale list that you really want, I need to get something that I can put into my collection, also; or it will be a cash sale. Because, to take in trade something I will in turn have to sell, (that is already in my collection) requires me to work twice as hard to complete the original transaction.
The total amount of chips listed on this site as traders and for sale are approximately 4500. This of course will fluctuate up and down, however this number should afford most collectors looking for a piece to put in their collection at least an opportunity to see a few chips not often offered.
Thanks for taking your time to read over this post, Reggie
