Re: MY LUNCHEON WITH L.A. MOBSTERS!

Rich before I was a chip collector, in the late 70's I was going to antique stores in So. Cal. looking for a poker set for my home games. In Santa Monica I found a great looking Oak box with about 200 different colored chips in a pull out holder, no lettering four different colors. The chips were composite with a circle near the edge. (best of my memory) But a brass plate on the raised top said Mickey Cohen plus some other words. The owner of shop told me this was Mickey Cohens personal poker set. At the time didn't know who MC was, I just wanted a home set of chips. He wanted 200.00 for set, I was hoping to spend 3-50. But just fell in love with the best looking box I've ever seen, the oak grains were matched, like top and base were cut out of the same piece of wood. So I purchased the poker set, a ton of money back then. Used for 10-15 years in my home game, then a buddy wanted to buy from me for 300.00 and I sold. This friend died 10 years ago no idea, where set is. I remember being told it was part of MC estate sale, from his house in the hills above Malibu, Ca. Wish I still had the set, to be verified from manufactured more information.
