My response to your counterpoints

Again I really wish this discussion and question were made on the club board but I will respond here since it is where you choose to post.

You state" Wouldn't the "future" of our club be in attracting new members? Putting energy into past members who have not been involved is fine but obviously limited.

Well the very first response I made as to what I feel is most important is the MOGH and its ability to attract new members.
Just about ALL the items that we are doing to attract membership is focused on new membership so I am not sure why you choose to mention the one item that dealt with trying to get former members back.

With that being said ignoring those that were previous members is a serious oversight which is why we work that as well.

I know you feel the downfall of our club is the organization and that is your opinion. Unfortunately the BOD as well as many others that we have talked to share our opinion. I know thats not what you want to hear but I gave you an honest answer.

I am not arguing that someone from the outside may have a fresh prospective for us and solutions that we have not considered? But how is this person going to be paid?

The BOD constantly discusses finances and makes hundreds of decisions each year based on keeping the club within our budget. We carefully balance dealer table fees, convention admission, membership dues and all other expenses to keep the club working properly.

The BOD feels that paying someone $5k-$10k to come in and give us perspective on a hobby and a club that person knows nothing about is a waste of money and would do much better being spent for things like advertising or other things that would help promote the club.

Painting a picture accusing the BOD as being stagnant and not wanting change or add membership is not only hurtful to those that volunteer their time to the club, it is also hurting potential membership that may be reading those comments.

Just so people realize, the main focus of all BOD meetings is how we attract new members. We spend countless hours discussing this problem and trying to come up with solutions. Many of our volunteers work hundreds of hours each and every year doing everything they can to bring in new members and make the club successful.

You may believe that the clubs BOD is anti growth and afraid to do anything to help the club but that in fact is just not true.

This will be my last reply on this topic as I honestly have other pending club issues to attend to.
