A GUEST AUTHOR’s HARVEST STORY

FANTASY SPRINGS INDIO, CA

By: Steve Gobel

Got the Free slot play card... Went to the Pai Gow table first. Surprise, won the first hand at $15. Bigger surprise, they refused to pay me!
Something about Tiger 9 that I'd never heard of. If the dealer's hand is Pai Gowed, and they have a 9 to put in the two card hand, then all bets are a push. Say What! That sounds like 3 card monte on the street corner. Oh, I've got a blue Chicago so I win. I asked them to show me where that rule is posted. Nowhere, it's just part of the game. How the hell am I supposed to know that? Well there is the Tiger 9 bet on the layout just above the Fortune bet. Fine, Wonderful. Where does it say that a side bet circle on the layout changes the play of the game? You've got a computer screen with the Fortune Bonus Payouts listed, along with the Progressive payouts, but no mention of the payout for the Tiger 9 bet. "oh, it's 30 to 1" How would I know that? Pit boss went to her podium and got a little rules card to give to me. A bit late now. Title of the game on the computer is Progressive Pai Gow Poker. It does not say Tiger 9 Pai Gow poker. Nowhere is there any mention of it. The dealer did not inform me of it. PAY MY WINNING HAND! "Sorry I can't, that's the way the game is played" says the pit boss, after admitting that there must be 50 different versions of Pai Gow Poker,(really?), and that it's the players responsibility to ask if they don't understand the game. The dealer is telling me that it's no different than 3 card poker where if the dealer doesn't have an opening hand there are no payoffs. Ok but it says that right on the layout. This whole Tiger 9 thing is just a way for the casino to weasel out of paying winning hands when the dealer has a cruddy hand. It's lower and more underhanded than going from 3 to 2 to 6 to 5 for a blackjack. I grabbed my chips and ran out of this clip joint. So, no TITO from here. I wouldn't give these corksoakers 99cents of my money to get one!

PERSONAL HARVESTING STORIES

SEVEN FEATHERS CASINO CANYONVILLE, OR

By:RICHARD “REGGIE” GUMMER

SEVEN FEATHERS CASINO IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED ON THE INTERSTATE FIVE, IN A VERY BEAUTIFUL AREA OF OREGON. I HAVE STOPPED THERE TWO DIFFERENT TIMES ON MY BI-ANNUAL TRIPS UP TO MY MONTANA FAMILY REUNIONS.
ON ONE OF THESE TRIPS I GOT INVOLVED IN A HOLD’EM GAME, IT WAS PRETTY WILD. I DO NOT REMEMBER THE FINAL OUTCOME, BUT I SAT THERE AND SORTED OUT CHIPS FOR CLOSE TO 4 HOURS. AT THIS TIME ALL OF THEIR CHIPS WERE STARTING TO GET THRASHED, AND THIS WAS BEFORE THEIR RECENT NEW RACK. AT THIS TIME THEY HAD THREE DIFFERENT ONE DOLLAR CHIPS ON THE TABLES. COW CREEK, SEVEN FEATHERS, AND SEVEN FEATHERS WITH A GOLD RING.
AS I WAS SEPARATING THE CHIPS INTO 3 DIFFERENT STACKS, ACTUALLY 4 DIFFERENT STACKS COUNTING MY MEAGER PLAYING STACK; I NOTICE PEOPLE WATCHING ME, AND I USED THIS CURIOSITY AS AN OPENING TO ENGAGE THEM IN CONVERSATION ABOUT CHIP COLLECTING. WHEN I GOT TEN OF ONE OF THE FAVORED STACKS, I WOULD GET UP AND PRETEND TO CASH THEM IN, BUT I SLIPPED THEM IN MY CARGO PANTS POCKETS AND CONTINUED THE HARVEST UNTIL I HAD ALL THIRTY CHIPS I WANTED AND THE FEW FIVES I NEEDED. THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY SNAPPERS AND I DID NOT SEE ANY $2’s, $3’s OR $4’s. BUT, SOONER OR LATER THE FUN HAD TO COME TO AN END, AND I CASHED EVERYTHING I WANTED TO IN AND GOT THE ROAD AGAIN. I HAD HARVESTED WHAT I NEEDED FOR A VERY LONG TIME. REGGIE

A PAIR TO DRAW TO

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie

If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

OFFERS

I would like to take a few moments on the word offer(s) and to the occasional appearance of this word in my pages. Most folks are cognizant of the meaning and how it applies when a price is not provided at the end of a listing.
However, there may be a few of you that do not. It might be because you are new to the hobby or you are used to other businesses or hobbies that treat it differently.
To me and I may be wrong, but it means:
• A price you may have previously seen, recently.
• A price based on scarcity or rarity.
• A price based on demand
• Not a lowball price to see what flies
• If you are not sure, it is better to just ask for at least the last price it was sold; if the seller has this price he will respond accordingly.
If anyone has any better points applicable to this subject; please let me know, and I will include them in this note. Sincerely Reggie

FREE, FREE, FREE or NOT

I will endeavor to provide these free personal chips shown below to everyone that makes even a minimal order. There are a few of other peoples personals, these were acquired by mistake or given to me by someone other than the sponsor of the chip. They need a good home, and to those of you that are thinking of having a personal chip made for the first time let me say it always a good idea. We have 2 or 3 people that make these within our club. This is always fun around a poker table, people are genuinely impressed with the fact that “you” have your own personal poker chip.
So let me elaborate a little more on the way you can own one or more of these chips shown below. First they are FREE to any one that makes a purchase.
Also, if you do not want to make a purchase and are more into trading, I will trade any personal chip for any chip in slightly used condition; that is not older than 6 months, common, or special it makes no difference. Please know I will trade personals for personals that I do not have.
Hope we can find some common ground to get these nice looking personals into your hands. Thank you for your interest in our ‘Very Fun Hobby” Sincerely, Reggie
