The Chip Board Archive 24

Answer: Around 13 years

I first came on this board, and decided to collect chips, around 2001. I got the idea to buy keychains that held casino chips to give to my two best friends, who I first went to Las Vegas with. We stayed at Vegas World on one of their deals, and had a ton of fun. The memories are still vivid. Anyway, I thought it would be cool if I could find some of the $1 chips they had on the tables when we went and I went in search of $1 Vegas World chips. I ended up buying four and posting on this board that I wanted those chips. I know I bought one from Charles Kaplan, who sent me a copy of the club magazine along with my chip! Nice guy. Still is. I bought 2 from Lucky2Boat, who sold a bunch of them, in worn condition, on ebay. The last I got from Scott Hartman or Monte Schuff, can't remember which. I kept the nicest for my collection, the other 3 went into keychains. The worst was in my keychain. I wondered how long it could last, a very worn chip in a keychain that was regularly used. The answer was 13 years.

I was helping a relative move. I went to my pocket for my keys and two pieces fell into my hands. vbg Oh well. I have a temporary chip in there (a chip I was given that is too damaged to collect or trade) and may try to get a new one, if a cheap one comes up.
