The Tijuana Caliente casino is at the site of the old Agua Caliente Racetrack, which flourished along with the old famous Agua Caliente Hotel-Casino resort from 1928-1935. It attracted the Hollywood elite and many others during the U.S. Depression. It was the grandest resort in the Western hemisphere during its heyday. For example, it offered the world's largest prizes at its racetrack, golf course, etc. Horse racing was discontinued in 1992, but dog racing with betting continues. The Caliente company operates at locations throughout Mexico, the leading facility being at the Tijuana Racetrack. Featured are modern electronic gaming terminals, bingo halls, sports betting, live greyhound racing, horse racing simulcast and even live table games at times.
