Everyone knows TJ is Tom...
In Response To: Illegal Of The Day Texas 31 ()

Joad

First, you must think back to the year 1939, when Walter Robert Holt ordered these chips.

Tom Joad has long been an icon of social justice and protest movements and lived in the midst of the Great Depression in the 1930's.

Woody Guthrie used his name in the song, "The Ballad Of Tom Joad".
Bruce Springsteen wrote a song called "The Ghost of Tom Joad", the title track of his 1995 album.
Henry Fonda portrayed Tom Joad in John Ford's film adaptation in 1940.

I know, I know, you're too young to remember way back in 1939.

How about the book, "The Grapes of Wrath", written by John Steinbeck and published in 1939?
It won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.
John Steinbeck also won a Nobel Prize for this novel.

The story begins with Tom Joad being paroled from McAlester Prison for homicide...

Walter Robert Holt never owned a dog, he was too busy running his "club".
