HERE ARE TWO SHORT STORIES ABOUT MEMBERS OF THE CC-GTCC:
MEMBER A AT A CHIP SHOW SEVERAL YEARS AGO WAS ASKING AROUND FOR A CERTAIN CHIP THAT WAS SELLING FOR $20-25. HOWEVER, I DID NOT KNOW THAT. BUT, I PROUDLY STEPPED FORWARD, AND SAID “I GOT ONE”. MEMBER A THEN LOOKED ME IN THE EYE AND SAID, HOW MUCH? I SAID $5. HE SAID ARE YOU CRAZY? THAT IS WORTH MUCH MORE HANDED ME A $20 BILL, AND SAID IT IS WORTH THAT MUCH. IT STILL IS, AND I STILL HAVE A VERY GOOD TRADE RELATIONSHIP WITH MEMBER A.
RECENTLY, I ADVERTISED A CERTAIN CHIP FOR $8, STATING I HAVE 3 OF THESE. I WAS APPROACHED BY MEMBER B, AS TO WOULD I SELL ALL THREE TO HIM. I DID NOT KNOW THAT MARLOW CHIPS AND ONE MORE ELSEWHERE, HAD JUST SOLD ONE FOR $50. I THOUGHT, WELL OK. I DID IT. LATER WITHIN A WEEK I FOUND OUT WHAT I HAD DONE AND ASKED MEMBER B TO RETURN ONE TO ME AND STATED THAT HE HAD TOTALLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME, AFTER 15-20 EMAILS HE STOOD FIRM, AND I WAS VERY DISILLUSIONED WITH MEMBER B, A PERSON I HAD TRADED WITH OVER THE LAST 8 YEARS. OBVIOUSLY, HIS BOTTOM LINE IS MONEY; NOT INTEGRITY OR FRIENDSHIP. SOMEWHERE IN THE CODE OF ETHICS OF THE CC-GTCC, IS A RULE ABOUT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ANOTHER MEMBER KNOWINGLY.
THESE TWO STORIES ARE BOTH TRUE.
