NCR: Report on Rao's, etc

Thank you to everyone who responded to my question about Rao's (both here and via email). I surprised my parents on Monday afternoon and we went to Rao's Tuesday night. Just a quick review for those who have not been. It was wonderful. I started with a Caesar salad, and was thrilled when the waiter brought 3 dishes because it is huge. I did not get the "famous" lemon chicken as the waiter said that people either love it or hate it due to the tartness. Instead mom and I had the veal piccata and dad had veal marsella (not on the menu, but they will make it). All three of us shared the platter of grilled vegetables and there were a few left over. We were too full for dessert - and let me mention that usually I can eat every course imaginable. We did not get the meatballs as I cannot eat pork. As soon as I mentioned that to the waiter (as the reason why we were not going to order them), he told me which items on the menu had pork and which ones could be made without it. In short, the waiter was wonderful too. I would go back. For three of us it was around $158 before tip. Considering how much I spent in Michaels at the South Point during the Convention, this was quite the deal for the money. (Have I mentioned that I am a foodie?) It was a great 1.5 days in LV. The outside of Ballys (new shops) was not as, er, ugly as I imagined it would be. I was impressed with the Linq area in terms of how it is laid out, but did not look to see what stores are there. The Linq hotel/casino was pretty dead. The only bright spot was the wonderful woman who was working at the cashiers booth who went in the back to locate a nice chip for me.
