Help Collecting Casino Chips =)

Hey,
I live in the most backward state in the US - South Carolina, which will never allow a Casino to be built. I have never played poker in my life. Having said that, I have a fascination with Casino chips as well as Roulette chips. I am not poor mouthing nor am I complaining as I am rather blessed, but I don't have that much money or I would just buy the several chips I like from Ebay. I've been doing a fair amount of research on Ebay Casino chip sales and as a result have been able to purchase a few. I guess my question is two fold in nature.

I am a member of this really neat site where you sell things you don't want for credits in order to purchase things you do. If any of you guys wanted to sell chips on there you would do pretty well and it only costs one whole stamp to mail a chip. I would be more than happy to speak with anyone who is interested in how it works because there is a lot you have to figure out on your own (www.listia.com). I mentioned this because I have been able to win several really cool chips on this site and have met some really nice people, one of which lives in Vegas. I did a Craigslist search for casino chips in Las Vegas and found an Estate sell with 400 poker chips from the 60's, 70's (questionable) through today for $400 and thought this would be an investment opportunity of sorts. Of course the manner in which the chips were advertised was not exactly honest. I got a friend I met on Listia who lives in Vegas to buy the chips for me and sent him the money via PayPal. I am still in the process of trying to determine what I have, but it looks like I am going to need to purchase the Official US Casino Chip Guide. The Ebay research I have been doing is to determine how to best list chips I don't like and have more than 1 of in order to make a little bit of money and also so that I can afford to purchase Casino chips I do like.

If you do not live in Vegas, Atlantic City, etc, is there a means in which to buy current chips at face value? I began collecting only recently and do not collect based particularly on the value of a chip, but on whether or not I like it. It is kinda funny because I am a girl and the guys I've met on Listia, who are true Casino Chip collector's like yourselves, think it's a little funny; but they have been really great and helpful when I have questions. I am not entirely sure of what I might have asked, but any help anyone can offer me would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
