I just started fooling around with this idea. It seemed cheaper and more convenient than using a cardboard box. The cardboard box could be heavy and , perhaps, you don't have a cardboard box lying around.

The idea is to wrap the item in bubble wrap (or old cut-up bubble mailers) or in a small box if you have one, -- and then you put this into a plastic poly mailer, like these I bought on eBay. Easy to find, just do an eBay search on "poly mailer."
