BTW; an interesting note by The Burt Company.

On page 29; "Antique Gambling Chips" it's noted that the traditinal process of making clay composition chips (back then) mentions that the workers bleached the clay white and then they mixed and dyed it the color of the final chip; heated the clay on steam tables and then spread it into long, hot, wafer-thin strips and as the strips cooled a press punched out the chips.
