These Osborne chips shouldn't really be called counterfeit as they were made after the casino closed. They are reproductions, made for the collector market, and should be priced accordingly. There's a good list of reproductions and fantasy chips on the CC+GTCC web site, as you have found.

I bought a set of these from Mr. Osborne on the floor of the Club convention many years ago. I immediately asked the member running the Club chip auction if these are the kind of chip he was looking for to add to the auction the following day. He tactfully explained the story, and said no thanks.

I had already done a similar buy in Downtown L.V. for a lot of the Borland "commemorative chips" that were made after the casinos closed. I found out the true history of these chips later on an on-line bulletin board, but they were pretty cheap. I still have them, and am happy I bought them when I did.

It would be nice if each seller would reference the club web site and use the right descriptions, but chip collecting is not the only hobby where you have to be careful what you buy .
