I've probably seen about 8-10...
In Response To: Dunes $1 GE question ()

come up on eBay, other auction sites (I think Heritage Auctions sold one in one of their chip auctions), or for sale on the Board in the last 4-5 years. That still keeps in in the realm of an R-8, though you never know for sure what's out there. I certainly haven't heard of a large stash of them being found. Also, while scarcity and value are often correlated, it doesn't hold true for every chip. I think I paid in the range of $150-175 for mine (at least, the purple one), and think that would be a fair price. I saw a pair of purple go in about the same range for the lot on eBay, though they were more worn than the example you show. I think the Heritage Auction one went for below $100, but I think someone got a deal (since I think a lot of buyers shy away from them because of their huge buyer's premium).

I've only ever seen 2 of the blue variety, one here on the Board (though one of the hot stamps was off center) and one on eBay (which I ended up winning). I got in a heated bidding battle with one other bidder, and the seller was a bit baffled that he got so much for a strange souvenir that his father had held on to for so many years grin.
