J.A. Nugget $25 Goldine token; comparison to gold

There have been a few slot tokens over the years made of an alloy called "goldine". It's brass with apparently less zinc in the alloy than normal brass. I thought this old Nugget 25 from Sparks looked surprisingly like a gold coin so I scanned it next to one. The money-clip gets its fields polished in my pocket every day so they are shinier, but the color is very close. Compare the goldine to the areas next to the lettering on the 22 k. U.S. Eagle coin. The clip is 14k, for comparison.

The token had a little use, but not in the last 20-25 years so it has toned a bit and lost some of its original shine. It's O'Neil catalog 2144, and dates to 1990. Letcher Mint (or possibly Lancaster Mint, the new name after they relocated from Calif to Nevada).

The token is for sale for $50 if you'd like to add it to your collection.
