Java vs. JavaScript
In Response To: NCR - Computer Question-Java ()

Although they have similar sounding names, Java and JavaScript are completely different.

JavaScript is a language used by browsers, Internet Explorer included, to provide a lot of the snappy function you experience when visiting websites ... like pop-up windows and animations and AJAX - which is the type-ahead function used by GOOGLE and others. JavaScript is normally enabled in your browser, but you can disable it in the TOOLS => OPTIONS area.

Java is a computer language that is intended for multi-platform use, meaning that the same program will run the same way on all computers that have a Java environment. The Java environment is something that you must download from Oracle in order to use. There are some Java programs that you can run on your PC, but most PC programs do not require Java.

The security alert that was put out last week was for Java, and not JavaScript. Most likely you do not have Java on your computer, because if you did then you should know that you had to previously install it.
