Was in Home Depot looking for something else - when I came to an aisle with an employee and several men, I shared my bad experience of busted pressure vacuum breakers. See the link

http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/plumbing/valves/water-control/3-4-pressure-vacuum-breaker-assembly?utm_source=google_pr&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Water-Control-google_pr&infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gclid=CNChvPeT8LQCFWlxQgodLWQA7Q

Two guys with their plumbers the Home Depot employee was explaining how these breakers should be wintrize. Then he came to the self regulating heating cable which they don't sell. He told us that the best thing is the Raychem heating cable - plug it into an outlet and forget it. No need for timer or thermostat to control the heat - he said that the cable has built in regulator that gives stable heat for the water to flow without interruption.

He then mentioned that in some states with longer and more freezing temps use them on their gutters all around the house and built them in to the roofing layers to melt the snow and ice that there is no accumulations and dangers of heavy weight to collapse.

I was shaking my head on my way to the car - huh "amazing"?

Still learning, learn so many things today.
