The Trop was pretty bad when we were there but if you haven't been there in a while you should stop in. They have really cleaned up the place. The hotel is rumored to become a Hilton Doubletree (after they stopped the affiliation with LVH they had no strip or strip area hotels). But like you said the SP is a fantastic hotel and I am pleased the convention will be there for the foreseeable future.
