Greetings from Chile

Hello all - while I await confirmation on my CC>CC membership number, I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself, now that I've made a few posts & had some Email exchanges with members.

I am first and foremost a poker player, but I've always collected chips wherever I have played. I also collect coins, stamps, medals, watches etc... so I've always been interested in unusual and vintage items. So it seems only natural that I would come to collect casino chips! I haven't really defined my collecting interests, although right now I am very interested in 'Old' Vegas & Reno, particularly Downtown Vegas. I am also very interested in WSOP collectibles & chips - I have a final table jacket from the 80's, and a 1oz silver bar giveaway from the 1994 WSOP (the one where Russ Hamilton won his weight in Silver...)

I am Canadian, but I currently live in Chile, and I work overseas. Indeed, my work has allowed me to play in lots of weird places, like Afghanistan, Tajkistan, Nigeria, Zambia, East Timor, Myanmar, and even North Korea. So I have a pretty decent collection of unusual chips from strange places. Now that I'm part of a club, I will do a better job of getting more examples of weird chips when I get the chance!

Which leads me to the topic of my post. If there is any interest in chips from Chile, then please drop me an Email, and I will do what I can to get you examples. I attach a picture here of chips/jetons/plaques from two local casinos (Vina del Mar & Colchagua) that I've picked up in the last year or so. I assume these are still available and are current circulation.

As I would have to buy these off the tables, I would need to get face value for them. Current exchange rates are about 470 pesos to the USD. It is also interesting to note that at Casino Vina del Mar, they have live action poker (with TERRIBLE rake rates) and have a separate series of chips they use in the poker game (all round chips). Postage from Chile isn't expensive, it just takes a little time to reach the USA - so if you're interested in any Chilean chips do let me know.

Best,

-Oke Millett
