the concern was at a time when we had a lot of troll posts, that people would post upsetting, erroneous or defamatory posts and then simply go back and edit them to erase the evidence. Of course, the delete function allows for post revision, so I'm not sure if that was the entire concern.

I would be in favor of editing, but I respect the right of the board owner (then creator) to decide to run the board however they choose.
