True in many cases in Europe since I know that the

~~~ #1 plaques that came my way from casino owners, concessionairs and managers were mostly found set apart from the remaining inventory/gaming area.
One such example was a vintage #1 plaque from Dinant that was found in a desk drawer when an inspection was being made on the property. It was a gift to me... Other cases involve museum curators/special collections who strived to find #1 pieces via methods mentioned above... and some simply popped up, but I'm willing to bet that Belgian jeton came from a special collection... grin
A few of the pieces I got from the CARO Collection and some other noted collections were #1 examples... and I assume because most were drilled they came directly from the manufacturer to the collector...
There are some pretty heavy MOP plaques with the #1 that were found with #'s 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well -- which I believe were set aside... and just to back up what I mentioned above; I've received a few #2 and #3 plaques from some family groups (casino operators) as gifts where I know exactly where the #1 pieces are... vbg
I have several #1, 01, 001 0001, 00001 plaques that were either gifts as mentioned above or purchased out of special collections such as mentioned above.
