BankNote of the Day- So What's In A Name?

Building on yesterday's Banknote of the Day, listing most of the world's currency names, I thought today I would compose an assortment (not all) of many of the meanings behind the names and how thry came to be. HOPE YOU ENJOY!!

Afghani: derived from country name: "that belongs to or that is from Afghanistan"
Lek: Named after 15th century Albanian feudal lord Lek Dukagjini
Dinar: Dinar is derived from Latin: "Denarius" - Silver Money
Pa'anga: – Pa'anga: meaning "Bean shaped pieces"
Baht: Baht: บาท is a weight unit of 15 grams – Up to 1940's the currency of Thailand was Tical which was 15 grams of silver
Pound: Old English: "Pund" from Latin word: "Pondus" - Weight; Sterling is derived from old English word "Steorra" - Star, referring to a small star on early Norman pennies.
Kroon: Latin for Corona or "Crown"
Escudos: Portuguese: Shield displaying coat of arms; from Latin: Scutum
Shilling: from the Old English and Old High German verb "Scilling" - "to divide
Manat: derived from the Russian word for coins "manyeta" (spells as "moneta") which comes from Latin Moneta, "mint, money"
Taka: comes from Sanskrit word Tankah.
Rublei: derived from the Russian "Ruble"
Franc: 14th century French word derived from Latin phrase: Rex Francorum - King of the Franks, inscribed on 14th century francs.
Ngultrum: Dzongkha: དངུལ་ཀྲམ - Pronounced as "Engultrum". "Ngul" means "silver" and "trum" means "money" in Dzongkha, a Tibetan language. Dzongkha: དངུལ་ཀྲམ - Pronounced as "Engultrum". "Ngul" means "silver" and "trum" means "money" in Dzongkha, a Tibetan language.
Boliviano: Simon Bolivar - Venezuelan statesman who revolted against Spanish rule, founded Bolivia in 1825 (1783-1830)
Pula: In Setswana (the language of Botswana) Pula means "Rain"
Cruzerio: from Portuguese word: Cruz - "Cross"
Ringgit: In Malay Ringgit means "jagged" and was originally used to refer to the serrated edges of the Spanish silver coins widely used in the area.
Leva: Bulgarian "Silver Leaf"
Rials: Persian ريال - Rial is a cognate of the Arabic "Riyal" which is derived from the Spanish word "Real"
Sum: pronounced as Som - "Pure" (gold)
Pesos Uruguayos: From Country name
Dollar: from 16th century German: "Thaler" a short form of Joahimsthaler, coin made from metal mined in Joahimsthal, a town now in Czech Republic
Karbovanetz: The name given to Ruble in Ukraine and Belarus derived from German word Kerbe: To carve, to cut; same as the meaning of the Ruble.
Lira: Latin for "Libra" - "scales" or "pound"
Won: : Korean: 원 or � � - Won (pronounced like on) derived from Chinese 元 Yuan
Peso: : Spanish "Weight"
Dram: : Armenian: Դրամ - Dram means "money" which was derived from the Greek word "Drachma".
Kyat: : Burmese: Kyat (pronounced as chat) literally means "round" and "flat". Kyat has been used in the 19th century as unit of mass, approximately 16.33 grams.
Yuan: : Chinese: 元 or 圆 - Yuan: literally "a round object"
