See two different Caesars Tahoe $100 tokens

Here are two different hundred tokens from the closed Caesars Tahoe. I've had the one with the gold plated center for quite a while. The other one (which is really kind of gold colored, not silver) was on eBay last week. I think it may be a prototype, as Gaming required hundreds to have a gold surface in those days, probably to accommodate a counterfeit rejecter in the machines that used surface resistance. This could be an unfinished token that hasn't been through the nickel and gold plating process yet (wonder how they mask the head so cleanly for plating).

Only the single material version is listed in The Chip Guide (as CG93542) and it's called silver-colored there. I think it's probably the one that sold on eBay.

Neither version is listed in Vince Mowerey's price list or in Dan's comprehensive on-line token guide.

Any comments or speculation on why there are two different is welcome.
