What Kind of Chips Can I Collect? CHIP OF THE DAY

Welcome to the second sneak peek week of the more than 100 chips from the article I'm writing for the "Casino Collectable News".

I welcome any suggestions, feedback & most importantly corrections.
Here are the What Kind of Chips Can I Collect? Chips Of The Day for 10/3/2012!

Here are two more examples of whole unit + fraction (WUF) chips:

Sahara Tahoe $3.60 Keno

Reasons to collect....
Closed Casino
Location: Lake Tahoe, NV
Denomination: $3.60 (unique)
Mold: small crown w/ hot stamp (per The Chip Rack)
Notes/Information: This somewhat rare Keno ticket chip is beyond my price range ($200+). I could not even find a picture/scan of this one. If you have one please send me a 600dpi scan. I do not know of any other $3.60 chips.

The Opera House $7.50

Reasons to collect....
Location: North Las Vegas, NV
Denomination: $7.50
Mold: Bud Jones
Other: limited edition, playing cards on inlay
Notes/Information: Instead of getting a $5 chip & a $2.50 snapper for a blackjack (on a $5 bet) you would get this single $7.50 chip. Very few casinos thought this was helpful. I know of less than 10 chips with this denomination.

The dog goes “woof” but this is not one of my WUF chips. It's the very unusual denomination $11. I do not know of any other $11 chips.

Fitzgeralds $11 Red Dog

Reasons to collect....
Closed Casino
Location: Reno, NV
Denomination: $11 (unique)
Mold: Chipco
Other: animal picture, playing cards on the inlay
Notes/Information: This chip was used to payout 11 to 1 on a table game called Red Dog Poker (a variation of acey-duecey/in-between). The payout was made when the same ranked card was dealt 3 times in a row in a single hand, ie. three Jacks.

If you like these chips what else could you collect that is similar?

There is no way of knowing how many whole unit + fraction denomination chips exist. I am always on the look-out for “odd-ball” denomination chips to add to my collection and you can too.

It's Wednesday, half way thru your work week!
Thanks for looking
