The military is not what it used to be, and at one time the off base establisments at the far flung installations did not offer quite the mix of venues that they do today. Thus, at least on larger installations at least, there were clubs by rank organization. The lower ranks (Airmen's Club), the middle ranks (NCO Clubs), the top enlisted ranks (Senior NCO Clubs), and of course Officers Clubs.

Today, there is at most a single "All Ranks Club" and these are usually not that well attended as the off base waterng spots are much more numerous.
