Excellent info (though a bit technical for me. I have found that buying a stand alone scanner is better than trying to buy an all in one (copier/printer/scanner). I have an older HP Scanjet 3970 and it scans excellent colors except white which always comes out to bright and not clear. Concensus here seems to be the Epsom 4490 as best overall, probably will be my next if still available.
