I"m about 90 percent sure that I've seen the YC chip (San Francisco) identified as the Yacht Club, a de facto card room operated by Oakland's own Eddie Sahati. Card rooms in San Francisco per se were not allowed; they were supposed to be Social Clubs, with, perhaps, card playing as one of the activities. The more famous Menlo Club was shut down because they never built a gymnasium for their "members" as described in their club prospectus!
