Club Devon & Buckeye Club Toledo Ohio,never thought I'd find this one.Jimmy Hayes owed The Buckeye and Jovial Club and another place at 220 St. Clair St. according to the two books written by Kenneth Dickson (Something for Nothing,gambling in the glass city and Nothing personal,Just Business)two great books on Illegal gambling in Toledo. The Jovial Club was for the average gambler would play cards and dice for small amounts,the second one was at 220 St.Clair Street was for higher stakes and the Third was The Buckeye that was Toledo best known betting establishment was for Toledo's honest gambler. The Club Devon which came later and was a big time operation and got caught in a raid at The Buckeye with their real books and in 1944 The Club Devon alone had profits of $4,139 a day to over $11,000 a day,April 25,1941 to the end of February 1944 the Club Devon had profits of $5,794,600 to $15,400,00 according to Dickson book translated into 2008 dollars it would be $104,302,800 to $277,200,000
