St Johns Greyhound Park & Orange Park Kennel Club

By the way, reason i posted the Palm Beach Jai-Alai thread the other day and why im posting this is that the HISTORY of this is whats most important in this hobby IMO! If your interested in Florida's gaming history, hit up Lighterman at mlighter@bellsouth.net and pick up his book. You will be suprised of the amount of research & pictures in it, i assure you grin Anyway, on with the show grin
St. Johns Greyhound Park, Orange Park Kennel Club, & Jacksonville Greyhound Racing are owned by the same company. St Johns(St Augustine, my home town grin ) opened first for poker in 2004. Orange Park opened poker in 2008. Jacksonville will be opening soon as well. Greyhound racing is live only at Orange Park and Jacksonville. St Johns is simulcast only nowadays.
I am not saying i do not have any tournament chips from Florida parimutuels, but if i do, i will not post them.
The white $1s were the first issues for both places but in 2010, for whatever reason, they were replaced by the blue $1s. The hot stamp $5 & $20 are "runners chips" that were given to me by the poker room manager in Orange park.
St Johns & Orange Park are special to me since one of them is where i live and the other has a special meaning to me & a close friend of mine.
St Augustine has a long history of gaming going back to the 1800's. The Bacchus Club comes to mind first even though there were others. Bolita was strong as well.
There was a day cruise in St Augustine in 1997, "Chances Casino". My wife, Liz, had purchased tickets for her & I to go on this boat but it was forced out of St Augustine in 1998 be fore i could sail on it sad

Anyway, here is the parimutuel poker room chips grin
