Laughlin History highlights
�� 1940s: A small motel is built for construction workers at Davis Dam and some miners. It closes after the dam is finished
�� 1966: Las Vegas casino operator Don Laughlin pays $235,000 for the boarded-up motel and opens with four guest rooms, 12 slots, and all-you-can-eat 98-cent chicken dinners. It's now the Riverside.
�� 1967: The Bobcat Club casino opens.
�� 1968: The postal inspector says the unincorporated area called South Pointe needs a formal name. He selects Laughlin.
�� 1980: Permanent population hits 80.
�� 1987: Don Laughlin builds a
$3.5 million bridge across the Colorado River.
�� 1990: Eleven hotels and casinos open. Population 4,700.
�� 1991: Bullhead City gets a new airport.
�� 2000: Population 7,076.
�� 2001: Two small airlines discontinue flights to Bullhead City.
�� 2002: Two California motorcycle clubs battle in a casino during the annual River Run. Three are killed and many injured.
�� 2003: Riverside opens west-side casino.
�� 2007: Bullhead City River Regatta starts.
�� 2010: Population 7,323.
