There are advantages to being Club Treasurer...

There are normally not a lot of advantages to being the Clubs Treasurer unless you really like lots of bookwork such as keeping track of every single ebay sale, Donation, Membership renewal funds and paying every bill the Club gets. One of the "advantages" is that I get to go to the local branch of the clubs bank which is about 15 miles from my house (I get to buy the gas for this trip). I am somewhat lucky in that I currently own a property that is only about a mile from the bank and I need to check on it occasionally. So I figured that today would be a good day to make a bank deposit, check on the house, mail some packages at the post office, pick up some sunflower seeds for the birds and, oh yeah today is Saturday, visit a few yard sales. So between visiting the house and the bank I stop at a sale which does not look very promising at first. Lots of clothes and junk furniture. There is a table at one end that I finally get over to see. And what is sitting on the table but a small trade stimulator! Now these normally go for $200 and up. This one is kind of rough but it has a $40 tag on it. I point out to the guy that the back and cash box cover are missing. So he lets me have it for $25. I took it home, cleaned up the case, oiled the mechanism, spent an hour figuring out how it was supposed to work and started feeding it coins. At first it didn't work at all but as I moved all of the parts (it looked like it had not been used in 20 years or more) it started working. After another half an hour I got it so that it works perfectly. Below is a picture of my new Groetchen Klix gumball trade stimulator.

I guess there are hidden advantages to being Club Treasurer. vbg
