Question for Gene Trimble-Cunard wet chip

Gene, on John Long's website he makes the following comment on this chip: "...Gene says these chips were made for Cunard and shipped to them. It would be interesting to know the connection with the name, 'Topaz Casino'". Since these chips are so unlike any other Cunard chip, Sandi and I decided to do some investigating.

Gene, do you know what year they were shipped? In 1997-98 Kyma Shipmanagement had a contract with Cunard to basically clean up their act and get Cunard ready for sale. In late 1997 Kyma moved Cunard headquarters to Miami from NY. In July 1998 Carnival Corp bought Cunard for $500M. During that same time Kyma purchased the Olympic (former Carnival Carnivale) cruise ship from Epirotiki and renamed her the TOPAZ. She underwent a $20M refit and was chartered to Thomson Holidays and sailed as an all-inclusive cruiser for the next five years, mostly to UK-based clientele.

If the chips were sent to Cunard in NY/Miami in the 1997-98 time frame, it's possible the chips were actually ordered for Kyma to use on the TOPAZ.

Further research will determine if the TOPAZ had a casino called the TOPAZ CASINO. Maybe our UK members can help.
