As a "younger" collector (in my early 30s) I don't know that the board needs a serious makeover. If you look at some of the social sites that are popular with my age group and younger like Digg, Reddit, etc., they have layouts that are at best, no more sophisticated than here, and at worst, a confusing jumble. Yet they get plenty of traffic. And I've seen enough sinfully ugly Myspace pages in my day to be leery of dramatic colors, etc.
I do agree that it would be great to get a little rotating thumbnail gallery of cool vintage chips, maybe just above/below the banners for the various boards at the top of the frame. Someone who's been to Vegas a few times and played with the house chips might well be a potential chip collector, but might not be aware of just how many fantastic old/new pieces of gaming history are out there.
