Chips off the Old Block - Table #18

Chips off the Old Block will be at Table #18 at this year's convention. I will be leaving Pennsylvania in 22 days and heading west. Between now and then I will be posting pre-convention specials and also pictures of some very rare chips, such as the one shown below.

The pre-convention specials will be geared toward newer collectors and relatively inexpensive Nevada obsolete chips. I'll post the first of these shortly.

The story on these rare chips dates back to the mid 1950's. Around that time, a combination of then current chips and silver dollars were embedded in a lucite like material in 4 boards, each about 2' square. These boards were displayed in a casino called "The Nugget" in downdown Reno. I acquired these boards in the late 1990's.

Recently I found someone who has been able to remove these chips from the boards and get them to the point where the chips have only a very thin coating on them. These chips will be available at next month's convention.
