The Pride of Payette, Idaho
In Response To: R.I.P. Harmon Killebrew ()

About 45 minutes west of Boise is the small town of Payette, population around 7,000. He used to tell people here if a kid from Payette can make it to the big leagues, then you can too.

Truly a class act and a wonderful man. Not just a sad day for baseball, but a sad day for everybody. Harmon was the kind of guy you WANT your kids to emulate and idolize.

I attached the link to a story my TV station did about Harmon the day he died. The reporter for this story, Mark Johnson, was a very good friend of Mr. Killebrew, and drove to Payette to talk to some of Harmon's friends, and found something very cool at Killebrew Field, the baseball field for the Payette Pirates.
