At what point were card rooms Illegal in California?

Also does any California collector have a list of true Illegal places. There has to be many as roulette and craps weren't legal and these 2 games were more than likely in abundance in California in the 30's, 40's, and 50's as they were in most of the USA.

Would like to trade for the small key series "The Cove" in Palm Springs 1935-1941. There is also 1 rect. mold listed at Dick's site and 2 lg crown. I have other California chips you may not have. These I Know are Illegal as there is much public information on the internet.

I would trade 2 clints pictured below for 1 cove.
