In Response To: Re: ore house ()

You are correct that the Ore House chips say "Reno" on them. However, they are not "live" chips that saw any action on table games. The Ore House was never licensed for table games (though it may have had some slot machines). They had these chips made to be sold directly to the collector market ... or whoever was willing to pay for them.

While they do represent a real business located in Nevada, they were never meant for gaming purposes, and never went through the NGCB approval process. I don't think they were even cashable for face value if you changed your mind and wanted your money back. The risque artwork made them a novelty with some collectors anyway, and you will find them around.

The closest analogy I can think of is the chips used at some of the "Gentlemen's Clubs" in Las Vegas, or perhaps the fantasy "brothel" chips that are sold as direct-to-collectors items.

Nothing wrong with collecting these types of chips if you like them. It's just not a licensed casino chip that would be listed in TCR.
