An example of 'green' encrustation! sad ...

John and I were having an email conversation yesterday and I sent him this scan. I had asked what the encrustation was and can it be cleaned? I had thought that the filagree on this type of jeton was silver, but a copper alloy certainly makes sense, unfortunately! (Thanks John for the information!)

(This discussion is about the jeton on the right.)

Below, is a scan of a very similar jeton ("SCI") that I showed last month that is free of the encrustation. grin
(Turns out that I had forgotten I had the encrusted version, having received it over 8 years ago, and was surprised to see that it too is an "SCI" jeton.)

What I have also learned is that the jeton is of an early plastic/celluloid material and not of bone or ivory.

Sure is a lot of knowledge and knowledge resources here on TheChipBoard!

Thanks John, Archie, Roy and others!

Jim
