Abie, rather shy and retiring gentleman who lives southwest, sent this one
about Hymn #365...

One suspects that the minister didn't appreciate it...

A minister was completing a temperance sermon. With great emphasis he
said, 'If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.'

With even greater emphasis he continued, “And if I had all the wine in the
world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.”

And then finally, shaking his fist in the air, he said, “And if I had all the whiskey
in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.”

With sermon complete, he sat down.

The song leader stood very cautiously and announced with a barely suppressed
smile, nearly laughing: “For our closing song, let us rise and sing Hymn #365,
Shall We Gather at the River.

Because of the similarity in subject, I thought I'd include this one as well...

A visiting minister waxed eloquent during the offertory prayer.

He began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned
face, "Without You we are but dust... "

He would have continued, but at that moment a 4-year old daughter (who was listening
very intently!) leaned over to her mother and asked, quite audibly in her shrill little girl
voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"

Smile! Life is too short not to! Keep spreading the cheer! See you at the river...
