Tropicana renovations

I was in the area after work today and stopped by the Tropicana to see the newest changes- The front lawn area seems to be almost finished, although the old park-like setting was much nicer since they had REAL grass. Looks like we wont be getting the return of the old 'Tulip' fountain anytime soon.

All the old Trop signage has now been removed from both the Strip-side and rear of the towers. No word of whether it will be updated or just painted over in white. Decades of dirt accumulation are all thats left of the familiar roman style logos.

The main entrance changeover has been complete for quite awhile and looks nice.

They white wrapped the north side of the front tower for Christmas '09 to be used for a advertisement slideshow type screen for a event or something, and they are finally removing at least the parts covering the windows. The entire tower still is very stark and bland with all the white IMO.

The land once occupied by the old 1959 room wing (imploded a few months ago) is being re-done into a unknown project, but most of the land appears to just landscaping as shown by the spread out palm trees. I couldn't get any answer inside what the construction will be.

This shot of the rear tower shows half and half of past and future- I prefer the black/white/gold contrast myself, but there is no telling what the final trim scheme will be. The pool area is now open for the summer and looks very nice. Much of the pool area north of the walkway to the rear tower is a new nightclub venue I think is connected with the Nikki Beach cafe.

The last shots are of the redone casino floor and mix of old/new lobby. IMO the casino redo was done very nicely and by looks alone could rival much of what is seen at Bellagio or Wynn. If people can get over the fact the hotel opened in '57 and just go inside for a look the classic Trop should do well. The new Cantor gaming operated sportsbook is huge and well appointed with giant betting/stats video displays, and the poker room is scheduled for completion to be opened April 15...... Here's hoping for a new issue poker room only chip issue???? The Tiffany theater has been re-named the Gladys Knight theater with the signing of her show scheduled to run through September.

Hope you all like the pics and new info-
