I'd like everyone's opinion. I'm thinking about...

Developing an app for various mobile devices (i.e. Android, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch etc...) which would allow you to take a picture of a casino chip from your mobile device's camera which will then use the app's data to positively identify a casino chip's origin, the date of issue and rarity (if any). So say your in a casino and you have a chip that you've never seen on the table before and you want to know when it was originally issued or your at a garage sale scoping out some stuff and you come across some chips that your not sure where they originated from, just open the app click a picture and viola you instantly have an answer.

The only thing is I'd have to approach and enter into agreements with certain authors to license their data for use in the app, so there most likely be a small fee to download the app (I was thinking about $5) and about $0.99 to $1.50 per year to update the data in the app which when you think about it is not really a lot of money when you have something like this. Another hurdle to get by is approval from Apple and other mobile providers which from what I am told is not an easy task.

So what does everyone think.

Sounds great, but I don't think it would work.
Sounds like what "Google Goggles" does
Sounds like you would have to limit it
Not Nearly That Easy
