When you book your room thru the club convention block you help support the club.

1) You get to stay at the host hotel, The South Point - With this being my 15th convention, I cant imagine staying anywhere other than the host hotel.
The show happens there
The Banquet happens there
The Poker and BJ tourneys happen there
The Auction Happens there
The Seminars happen there
The Trade Sessions happen there
The Splashbar Happens there
Chippers everywhere you look
Easy to go back to the room to rest
No need to lug around chips as the room is just an elevator ride away.
It’s the place to be at convention time.

2) The South Point is a nice hotel - Sure you can find nicer or even cheaper but its hard to beat the quality you can get at the South Point for a better price. The Restaurants are great, Movie Theaters, Bowling Alley, Nice clean rooms, large open gaming area, Great New Poker Room and large sports book.

3) When you book thru the club block it helps the club meet its contracted number of rooms. Part of securing a convention spare for us each year at an affordable price is contracting to a casino for a certain number of room nights each year. If our convention can offer only 100 to 200 room nights a year most casinos wont even give us the time of day. The more rooms we can offer, the better chance we get at a lower priced convention space, more amenities and a better choice of convention dates.

4) When you book thru the club block you give the club more bargaining power with future conventions at the host site. Even though we have signed a 5 year contract with the South Point, in order to assure that they work with us in keeping room rates low we need to continue to fill our room block. The SP has worked with us the last 2 years in lowering rates when we asked. If we don’t continue to bring in room nights, they will be more reluctant to work with us in the future as they wont have to.

5) When you book thru the club block you give the club more bargaining power for future conventions at Other locations. While we would love to continue our relationship with the South Point, this is our 5th convention location and will most likely not be our last. Every year we hold a convention we build a resume.
When potential casinos look at us for convention consideration, they check with previous locations to confirm bookings as well as other information. If we can show people that we constantly book 600-800 room nights, we have a LOT more power to negotiate terms or even get our foot in the door.

Believe me, I understand the many reasons to book on your own. Times are tough and many, including myself are offered comped rooms at other locations. For me the choice is a no brainer. While I stay at other places throughout the year, when it comes to June and Convention time, there is only one choice for me.
That’s the South Point, and that’s booking thru the club room block.

I know that not everyone can afford to pass up other offers, but for me, its worth the extra money to support our club and its future conventions.
