There was an interesting string yesterday on collecting chips & checks and their values or lack of values. I thought it might be interesting to post why people collect and what they collect? I came west to retire about seven years ago (twenty years to late but that is a story for another day). I had been on vacation at Tahoe/Reno back in the 1980's and after long thought decided this is where I would like to spend my retirement. After awhile I became facinated with Reno and it's history (Reno could have been bigger then Las Vegas) and began to aquire memorabilia, chips & checks related to the older more interesting casinos and gambling houses. I have been fortunate to make contact with some of the locals who have been here since the 40's and who have provided great stories and insight into the town's history and make up. I do not collect for profit but for fun and the historical knowledge of where I now reside. Here are my favorite chips, which were previously posted.
