For years The Orleans had two specialty slot machines just opposite the Main Cashier Cage, that used those tokens. Tokens were dispensed from the cage whenever a customer cashed a payroll check, one token per payroll check cashed. After cashing the check, the token was played in either of the 2 machines (they were identical) which offered four different games. A Big Wheel spin, Video Poker, and two more that I can't recall right now.

The top prize was $50,000 and minimum prize was a coupon good for a free drink or $1 match play on even money games. There were a variety of other possible winnings, cash and gifts from the gift shop. When The Orleans was a Coast Casino property, all the other Coast Casinos had these same machines (and tokens); the Gold Coast, Barbary Coast, Sun Coast and South Coast. After Coast Casinos became Boyd Gaming, the machines stayed at all the properties, but are all gone now, except for the South Coast (now South Point).

While the Boyd properties still offer the "Paycheck Party" concept, it is tied to the Boyd Group's Rewards Program (B Connected) and if you are a winner, it shows up at a "B Connected" kiosk when you swipe your player's card.

The South Point still uses the "South Coast" tokens in their two machines and any of the older tokens work on those machines. A word a caution, even though the South Point machine will accept all past Coast Casino versions of this Paycheck Party token, the machine 'holds' the just-played-token in a small window at the bottom center of the machine's belly and if it is NOT the golden colored South Coast token that was played, you will not win the big prize if you hit it.
