Great Chip!
In Response To: for sale SCARCE $1 NEVADA chip for sale ()

I remember when I got both of mine (albeit at different times), all of my GE colleagues (esp. those who were poker players) were jealous. vbg I love that they're from a classic casino like the Dunes; and there aren't many corporate logos, especially ones so iconic, on casino chips period. And as you said, not many of the chips survived (besides mine, yours is the only blue one I've seen).

Do you know any history behind these chips? The person from whom I bought one of the two chips got the chip from his dad, who was a GE appliance dealer for years. According to that guy, GE had a promotion for all of their TV and electronics dealers back in the day: meet a certain sales target, win an all expense-paid trip to Vegas (come to think of it, not many GE TVs left around these days, either...). Apparently these chips were part of the 'prize package' given to the winners upon their arrival at the junket. I tried to get more information about whether the different color chips were given out for different reasons, but that was all the information he had.

In any case, any information you have to either corroborate, expand upon, or refute this information would be appreciated grin. I have done some digging given this lead (as big and as storied as GE is, there has to be a Bureau of Corporate History and Useless Information around somewhere that would have records, but I have yet to find it vbg).

BTW, in case I didn't say it before, Great Chip! vbg
