Seller describes the chips-I missed them mad
In Response To: Re: Tupperware chips ()

Mike, these are made of "French Ivory", a vegitable based early type of plastic material made with a slight grain look to it, so as to mimic and replace the more costly Real animal ivory that could not be molded back in the day. Don`t think the tupperware folks were around back then , and all tupperware chips I`ve seen look exactly like the material they make their containers out of, in the same opaque colors and are a solid one piece object without rings.. Which don`t even remotely resemble these French Ivory Chips in any way whatsoever other than being round . French Ivory was used to make all sorts of items both decorative and utilitarian at the turn of the last century,[ boxes, album covers, card cases, chips, markers, cigar cases, photo cases, hair brush handles etc.] that were later replaced by bakelite material items, then later the cheap plastic stuff of the 1950`s -70`s. Hope that helps. Sorry you missed them they were priced right, and over 112 years old as far as I can figure. Judging from the chips they were with when I got `em , and the set and case they were in; They were from the late 1880`s. Definitely not made by or from tupperware.

I really missed a good buy here. He really knows what he is talking about.
