Re: Plastic pages destroying chips
In Response To: Plastic pages destroying chips ()

Hi Herb,

I bought a collection a couple of years back and the same thing had happened. When the inlayed chips (especially $5's with sticker type inlays like on some Nevada LE's) were placed directly into the pockets, after time they stuck and were impossible to get out without damaging the chip. Sad to say I tried cutting the pages open and even poured water into a pocket to see if that would loosen the chips from the plastic but nothing worked. One they've fused to the plastic there's going to be some damage.

When I first started collecting I was warned against this by learned collectors so I have all mine in carboard flips and then in the pockets. Haven't had a problem with any chip getting damaged in any way in a little under 5 years (knock on wood)

Cheers, Tim.
