An unexpected benefit of the central control of slots is the "quick pay" option for jackpots. If you are authorized for the option, previously mandatory "hand pay" jackpots can now be accepted by the player and the results will be shown on a daily IRS summary sheet at the end of your play. Only your PIN is required to accept each jackpot and the credits won stay on your machine. Admittedly, this is mainly of interest to higher level players who routinely get several pays an hour, but it cuts the time required from 5-10 minutes to maybe 10 seconds. Yes, you still have to sign a W-2G, but only once a day.

I don't play $100 slots, but this is what really makes it practical for someone to play videopoker at that level as a hand pay occurs about once every couple of minutes with the old process (3 of a kind will do). The new Aria is the first palce I've seen "quick pay" offered.

Regarding changes to the games offered, I was told that once a player begins play with a card inserted, the games on that machine can't be changed remotely. They are also unchangeable for some time (maybe 20 minutes) after his card is removed. Odds and paytables will almost certainly be routinely changed based on how busy the place is, time of day, day of the week, etc. VP players, even more reason to check the glass before you select a machine to play.
