NCR, BankNote of the Day...

The Republic of South Africa is located at the southern tip of Africa. South African currency carries the inscriptions of both English and Afrikaans. ENJOY!!

Languages: Afrikaans, English, Xhosa, Zulu
Religions: Black Christian churches, Dutch Reform, Roman Catholic
Status: UN Member 1955

Today’s note is a 1943 issue 1 Pound note. This note is the predecessor of the South African Rand. What is ‘rather special’ about this note is that it is an eBay treasure- I bought it on eBay for $26.00 with $4 shipping from South Africa and the note in the Fine condition with the Postmus signature makes it worth $75+. So it is a rare fine on eBay (a note valued more than it’s sold for). It pays to browse regularly.

(Front) Dark brown. Sailing ship at left. With English and
Afrikaans text. Signature Dr. J. Postmus (Back) Arms at center.
