Finally some good news...

After having a house we rehabbed this time last year on the market for a whole year we finally sold it today - pending inspection, financing, etc. Hurray! Now I will have a little moeny again. Unfortunately we only made about 1/3 of the intended profit but at least it was a profit.

Then before noon we went down to the courthouse and tried to buy a house for my oldest daughter. She is getting divoraced from her husband and has been living with us since December. Of course the 2 kids came with her. Yes I love my grandchildren but having 2 little ones run amok in the house has been trying. Back to the house. The auction is at 11AM and at 10:55 the lady auctioneer arrived and told us and the other guy there that this was a cash auction. I asked what she meant and she said that you had to have cash or certified check for the full amount before you could bid and that she had to leave at 11:10 to get to the next auction location. How are you supposed to know how much of a check to get before bidding starts??? Anyway the other guy said he had someone coming with a check. I quickly called the bank and got the number of the local branch and their number. I called them and surprisingly enough they said they could cut a check immediately. I chased Cindy out to get the check (which was for our max bid)while I bid on the house. The auction started and the other guy couldn't bid cause his friend never showed up. I got the house for $1 over the starting bid. She is paying $117K for a 1725 sq. ft. house the city asseses for $176K. And it has 3 acres for her horses and is only 1 mile from their old house so when the husband gets the kids they don't have to go far. Great deal! Great day!!
